Azerbaijan is considering participating in a multinational stabilisation force for Gaza following US requests, though officials say any deployment would require UN Security Council authorisation and a clear international mandate.
The US approached Baku about joining a mission to secure Gaza once fighting ends and humanitarian access expands, according to information obtained by AnewZ channel. Azerbaijan has not made a final decision on participation.
The proposed International Stabilisation Force (ISF) would secure key sites, ensure aid delivery and prevent renewed armed confrontation.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the ISF mission “will have to be people that Israel is comfortable with, or countries that Israel is comfortable with as well,” without identifying specific nations or vetoes.

Sources indicate Arab partners have noted Azerbaijan’s balanced regional approach, while Azerbaijan was invited to the leaders’ summit on Gaza in Egypt, where further steps to stabilise the situation in Gaza were discussed.
Baku maintains diplomatic relations with both Israel and the Palestinian side. In November 2022, Azerbaijan’s parliament approved a resolution to open an embassy in the State of Israel, which would be located in Tel Aviv.
The embassy was officially inaugurated in March 2023 in Israel, with diplomatic representation and an ambassador from Baku.
In parallel, Azerbaijan established a “Representative Office” in the West Bank city of Ramallah in late 2022.
These steps reflect Azerbaijan’s diplomatic strategy of balancing its close partnership with Israel while maintaining solidarity with Palestinians.
