A Turkish military C-130 cargo plane with 20 people on board crashed in Georgia’s Sighnaghi region near the Azerbaijani border on Tuesday, officials said.

The aircraft had taken off from Azerbaijan and was returning to Turkey when it went down.

Video shows the plane spiraling before impact, leaving a trail of smoke.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he was deeply saddened by the crash and expressed condolences.

Search and rescue operations are underway with Georgian and Azerbaijani teams.
